yah, try your luck and see if any larger firms locally have any houses or land that they're trying to sell, remodel, or repair. Maybe persuade them to choose you at some point based on your portfolio of work and price point.

i was going to go to school for civil, but mechanical is a diverse field with lots more opportunities imo. with the government and state cutting spending and laying-off employees, it'll be tough to get a foot in the door. check charlotte if you're not dead set on staying in va
