Re: 757 Softball
Situation talk...........
Top of the 6th, 1 out, runner on 1st and 2nd . We're winning 5-4. Batter at the plate has been super productive all night long, singles/doubles, their lead off hitter. The batter behind him has flown out all night and not hit for power at all.
Would you put the batter on to load bases and go after shitty #2 hitter?
or
See what happens with guy at the plate whos been mashing all night?
(This shouldnt have happened because our 2nd baseman decided he was All American Super Softball Player and tried to roll his own double play and failed at his attempt when he could have just tossed it to our SS who was in postion to close the game.)
Ill post what we did and what happened after i get some opinions from you guys.

Walk him.
If the leadoff batter has reasonable bat control, he will hit it hard to the right side to at LEAST take double play out of reasonable chance.
Pitch to #2 batter at top of pitch ceiling and inside, he will ground out.

Re: 757 Softball
that is a tough call for me. if you walk him, and the guy who has been flying out all night, flys out again, that is an easy tag at 3rd, pending how far he hits it, but usually it is a sure thing. Now, it all depends on how risky you are, are you willing to take your chances for the win, or risk a tie?
me personally i would have pitched to him, and hoped for the best.

You pitch to him.
You never want to put the tieing runner that much closer to home.
If the shitty batter hits a little blooper or a fly ball, the run from third is going to score. Why give them the game?
Make them earn it.
Everyone gets lucky. He's batting third because he's probaly a good hitter, he just having a bad night.
You have your pitcher keep everything inside and ugly to the good batter.
Do not give him a cookie or anything "good" to hit but throw a strike when you have to.
Nothing outside or over the plate.
Make him pull the ball.
If he does get a hit, the runner at 2nd will have to hold up at third.
Make them BEAT you, don't give them the game.
No one is perfect. Don't give a free base when he can make a mistake for an out.
Make him earn it.
tl;dr
pitch inside to the good hitter, make him earn the run.
If he gets out, you now have shitty hitter two outs instead of bases loaded with one out.
edit: The only time I would ever walk him is if he is a straight home run hitter and/or you know he's using a cut stick.
If he's hit two or three out and they have one to hit, I'd walk him.
We did this in league not to load the bases but runner on first, we put him on because he was using a cut stick and it's unlimited HRs.

Re: 757 Softball
8-9 last nigth in p-town.
We lost both though.
I thought it was funny when they went to 5 man and left RF open.
I guess they thought I can't hit to RF.
Anyone need an IF for a tournament team?
I want to play tournaments.
Also, Jared, let me get that bag.
