I did my garage floor with the epoxy kit from Lowes. I did the grey with blue sprinkles and it came out pretty good!

Yes "that roll on crap". The issue is that floor prep is key to longevity. Anyone can paint it on, but whether or not it stays down once cars etc. start rolling on it is all in the prep. My slab sweats a lot in the spring/summer and has had countless fluids on it. It really needs professional prep w/ a floor grinder etc.
I just can't warm up to the race deck look. The other option is VCT tiles, but epoxy is preferred.

Will do... google has only given me 2 companies.... we'll see what comes of it. If the cost is outrageous I'll just rent a floor grinder and DIY. Problem is that you have to clear out your garage for a few days which can be a PITA.

Brian- Ask a few of the automotive shops what they use for commercial grade epoxy flooring. I have not been impressed with most DIY methods unless the pre-treatment/prep is correct.

Yeah... most DIY's suffer from what's called hot tire pickup.... when you pull your car in the heat from the tires vs. the cold floor causes the coating to come up. Nicole's dad has one of the DIY kits in his garage which he uses as a workshop vs. car parking and it's peeling up in many areas... just a mess in general.
I don't love the bulky look of the racedeck, but the simple install and no prep needed is appealing. The next option is VCT tiles, but that requires some floor washing and you have to buy glue etc. etc.
The Epoxy is the most appealing, but it requires the most work, especially on a dirty slab like mine.

I've never had any issues with my DIY epoxy kit as far as paint coming up or anything and I've had it now for almost 5 years. I remember the kit came with some cleaning solution that I needed to use to prep the floor before painting and I had to wait a day or two while the floor fully dried before I could then paint it and apply the sprinkles!
