The guys who made E5, it was their 6th time taking the E5 exam and was also the first time they advanced off a test. (did not re-enlist for E5)
I made it in 5 tests. I had been an E4 for over 3 years at that point. Nuke EM's don't advance as fast as you'd think (all of us that advanced have been in just over 4 years, with the difference being the 2 that re-enlisted went to E6 and the 2 that didn't, E5).

I just recently picked up Seargent, and am now considering re-enlisting, and going to Oki, that will set me up nice to go to HMX when I come back in a couple of years.

Whatchu mean? We make rank too fast?
There's a guy I know retiring (20 yrs) within 6 months as an E-6, another one retiring E-7, and plenty getting out between 12-16 yr point as an E-6.
On the other hand, there ARE those select few making E-7 BEFORE their 6 year point, and more making it between 6-7 years. They just got all their shit in one basket ya know?
