It can be either lamb, lamb/beef, or pork. There is a place in Detroit that is an authentic Greek Restuarant and ever since I had one of the authentic Gyro's, none of the "Gyro's" around here are worth a damn.

There used to be a place in Williamsburg on Richmond Road called Big Apple Bagels and that place made my most favorite sandwich. Period. BABs are all over the place in Michigan, but they're pretty sparse down here.

theres a small mom and pop shop over on warwick next to ferguson called "Unsinkables" i used to eat there almost everyday when i worked at ferguson.

there is a Mediterranean place on VaBch Blvd near witchduck that has an awesome Gyro, that is made with Lebanese spices. And you will not find a true gyro in the 757, you know off the spit. I lived, and go back once a year, in Germany and love Gyro meat. Donor Kebab for the MFW..

yes i demand a authentic gyro. in richmond there is the crazy greek but here i have absolutely no idea. i recall a few years ago in hampton in the wythe area there was a greek restaurant but not sure if its around any more
