Default Car shop question?

Hey as some of you know my car was broken into about two or three weeks at a local shop. They never had me sign anything releasing them from damage rights to my car. Does anyone know if they are responsible or liable if they had the keys and car in their possession when it was broken into through their insurance? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks guys and girls.

No just the invoices of what was owed and the work that was done. The shop was dynotuned inc over on greenbrier. They filed a police report on the incident though because it was at their shop. Therefore they assumed liability i am assuming?

Was the vehicle outside?

I know at our shop, our insurance won't cover anything outside of the building, only stuff that happens when it's inside the shop.

you would assume that they would be responsible, like if someone slips and falls outside their shop they are responsible, so a car should be the same

so if you got something done at a shop and while they had it it was left outside and got damaged, you would say its all good and go pick it up as is, broken and mangled?

It was outside only because thats where i was told to park it and they were supposed to look at it. They looked at it and then said they would need it for a few days. When they had control it was broken into in one of their designated spots they use and they had keys. I would think they would be responsible for the car and they filed a police report if it was on me you would think i would have had to file it and nothing happened to their shop.
