city of Norfolk can derelict my balls!!
So today some woman from the city of Norfolk came with order to tow away three of the cars we have in our driveway, because they are "inoperable". My friend has his 69 camaro which he is building up pretty nicely, slowly but nicely. my roommate has a chevette (putting a quad4 in it, really a neat little project) and he also has a grand am that he bought at an auction to fix and sell. Camaro's new engine and rear end are in the garage, so yeah its inoperable. the grand am, we just finished replacing the head gasket, not everything put back together yet, so inoperable and the chevette is running (with stock engine, no quad4 yet) but has no plates: inoperable. So there were three tow trucks outside my house and some lady with papers knocking on my door. Well to make a long story short one of the drivers was cool enough to convince the "nice" lady to leave the camaro. so they did phew. But both my roomates cars are gone now. Oh he will be pissed when he gets back from work... My neighbor was even here trying to convince the lady to let us drive the chevette, since it was driveable, and put it in his garage. she said no. Oh because of course it can be in a garage, but not outside the garage... because it doesnt look pretty ... GHEY!!!
so thats my "I hate Va" story of the day.
flaming can begin, but this is seriously a stupid law to any DIY people out there.
edit: oh I cant miss a qoute from her. "it doesnt matter if its a brand new lexus, if it has a flat tire, you better fix it or its getting towed"

IF you covered it up with a car cover, would they still have towed it? You should have "built" a garage out of a few two by fours and a tarp or two.

The city of Norfolk (read: actual city workers that ride around in their cars) fucking sucks.
We got citations before for parking in our yard. We have a driveway in front of our house and one on the side, the side one is grass and we got in trouble for parking there.
They said we have to be in perfect line with the driveway, so basically if half of our car is over an imaginary line where the driveway ends on each side we can get a ticket.
Gay shit.

but then she said something, I wasnt there when she said it but my neighbor said you cant park in the grass in your front yard but if its around the side or back... you might want to check on that. most of these people dont even know the law they just like going around and bitching, shit, the get paid to do it.

I belive here in Newport News as long as its not visable its okay. So what my buddy did was gate in his back yard with an 8ft privacy fence and parked his cars back there.
