yeah, that's pretty much how it goes owning a bmw. get it cheap and pay a bit for shipping and wait 3-5 days, or pay out the ass locally.

also, you're not going to find many e39's in the junkyard. e34's maybe, e28's definitely. they're not old enough yet, but I'm sure you can get lucky if you try enough yards

btw fap99.com is the cheapest new parts source I've found, pelicanparts is nice as well

I've seen a smaller Euro only yard off of Military Highway in between GWY and the bridge. I don't remember the name but it was on the end of a small shopping center.
Just looked into them and they seem to have at least 3 e39's on the lot. Score, I think. (!! !!)

True story. I'm hoping that when the new 5 series comes out, that more people will get rid of their e39's and more parts will because alot cheaper. We'll see how that goes.

yeah my next dd will definitely be either an e36 m3 4 dr or e39 m5. I'm sacrificing some luxury right now; selling my e36 in favor of an e30 with a euro s50 & m3 brakes/susp. So I don't know how long it will be until I can get another dd, but when I do it will be one of them

I wouldn't go to always used auto parts until you absolutely have to. Your going to pay like 80% of what a new part costs.

I really do not see the point in buying new parts for trivial items, such as the dead pedal, headlight adapters, etc. I'm not about to be buying like control arms or some kind of wear and tear item. Everything I need is some $5 part that BMW wants $20 and online+shipping is like $15.

I see your point and I agree, it's just I need a bunch of misc interior and exterior peices that are not wear and tear and too small/big to be shipped.

Do any of these places have 80s Benzes? I picked up a perfect condition set of front door/dash wood...only to realize the wood for the tilting steering wheels is different from the wood for the non-tilting...FML.
