Question Ghent: Pros and Cons?

Hey guys, I need help again. My lease is comming up on me in a few months and we are thinking about moving out. We have been looking into Ghent for quite sometime now and have our hopes set on it. We are looking at renting or leasing. Not buying yet, but there were a few places that caught our eyes.

I read a thread a while back about someone living in Ghent. I just wanted some feedback as far as the landlords, the area. I am married with no children so I am not looking for a huge place, but I will take what I can get if the price is right. I understand it is a bit more pricey down there than other places, but we both work full time, so we are willing to throw down the extra cash if it is worth it. Does anyone have any advice as far is their experience with the area, the landlords, etc?

I would highly appreciate any input. I did a search but found many threads with the word 'ghent' in it, but nothing relative to what I am searching for.

I googled up a few places so like I said, we do have a few places. But if you did read this whole thing, thank you and I will appreciate any responces.

Respectfully,

Korey

If you are planning on having children, the elementary schools in Ghent are very good. Traffic on Hampton is a downside, but Colley actually isn't too except between 4-5:30 or so. The area is beautiful, and people are pretty friendly. Also, being around gays isn't so bad. They'll LOVE to help you decorate.

I think the pros would outwiegh the cons, start looking for a nice place now though, so you have time to look the apartment/townhouse/house over thoroughly and make a good decision.

We looked at Ghent on the Square, but I guess they are selling them as stand-alone condos for 250k+...im not spending that kind of money on a condo that small. But we are looking everywhere. I appreciate all the input so far, do you guys have a place you recommend?

Me and a buddy had a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment on the corner of Manteo and Red Gate. It was a little over 1600sqft., pretty nice tile kitchen, crown molding, private parking off street. We payed $1300 and that included untilities except cable.
