Re: Help!!! Laid off today....
FYI
The Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s Apprentice Program will open to accept resumes from Oct. 5 through Dec. 7 for the 2010 hire. To apply, applicants must submit a resume and take the college placement test given by Tidewater Community College (TCC).
Applicants must have a resume created as a Microsoft Word document or other similar software, such as WordPerfect. If the applicant has created a resume using the Navy's resume builder CHART which is located at https://chart.donhr.navy.mil, they will need to save it to a word document in order to submit it using the process identified below. If using CHART to create a resume, the applicant will be prompted to create an account unless one has been previously established. Once the resume has been created, the applicant needs to ensure that it is saved in CHART and also copied to a word document.
To submit your resume of choice, locate the apprentice announcement using the "Search for Jobs" feature on CHART. When the search page comes up, type in "apprentice" in the Key Word Title block and click on the search button to locate the announcement. Once the announcement is open, locate and read the "How to Apply" paragraph. This will direct applicants to the Application Manager link at https://applicationmanager.gov. Applicants must login to this link and create an account, which is separate from their CHART account. Applicants will need to use the Vacancy Identification Number (VIN) number, which will be found in the apprentice announcement. The applicant’s resume must be electronically submitted using this process. After downloading and submitting the resume, an electronic confirmation will be sent acknowledging receipt of the applicant’s resume.
All applicants must take the college placement test given by TCC regardless if they are enrolled in TCC or not. Exceptions are only made if students have successfully completed Math 03 (Algebra 1) and English 03 (Preparing for College Writing II) or higher level courses at TCC within the last year. The placement test scores will determine eligibility for an interview. The placement test is the responsibility of the applicant, the Shipyard does not schedule this. To enable an applicant to take the test, the college enrollment application must be completed and submitted to the admissions office. Both the resume and the placement test must be completed by the closing date of the announcement, Dec. 7.
Additional information about the Apprentice Program can be obtained by going to the Shipyard's website at: www.nnsy1.navy.mil. Click on "career opportunities" and then click on "apprenticeship".
If you have additional questions, contact Holly Young at 396-7126 or Tim Bailey at 396-4483.

Re: Help!!! Laid off today....
No, it was more of relaying info from the company to the customer and vice versa, as well as setting up paperwork. Not very difficult, just a lot of learning involved with that paticular system.
Thanks to both of you
