For the record, before I say anything else, I'm not trying to be insulting so don't take it that way.

You don't seem to know how to do much of the work yourself, so if I were you I would just go with the complete JDM package and call it a day for now. This way you don't have to buy extra parts and/or worry about modifying existing parts so that they suit your engine better.

When you first blew your engine, you were talking about getting an Evo and doing light mods, nothing major. You should stick with that stradegy now... the JDM engine will make plenty of power for the time being, and you won't have to worry about it blowing up on you.

Once you have a running car, you can again save up and research and plan.

It'll be a lot easier than having to go a really long time without a car.

Off topic, what exactly happened to your old engine? I remember you saying that your compression was like 160-160-160-80, or something like that? Did you melt the piston or crack the block? I'm assuming you didn't crack the heads since you were talking about using them over again.

I appreciate all the input guys, and I am leaning towards choice one as well now. I definately cannot do this work myself, so I would probably save significantly on labor doing the entire motor just dropped in. And ricky is right, the block has yet to be opened see what the final outcome was, but I am thinking a cracked ring land at this point.

If i was in your shoes i would either do option 1 or talk to Shawn at Millenium and get the STI longblock. how much would option 1 cost? Isnt there only about 30hp difference in the two motors??

NOTE- I found an stiv6 for 4,300 that is used and i think you would be better off getting the motor with 0 miles for 1400 more because you already have a tranny to use. So you dint have alot of extra parts laying around.
