I have a 18' carolina skiff and with 4 people in it, it draws about 3 inches maybe 4. Skiffs have a completely flat bottom for reason. Also, that's the beauty of an outboard motor, you can trim it up as much as you need.

Had the same, I don't know that I ever got that shallow, at least not on purpose, lol. The best I have ever hear of was around 6-9 inches, how you are doing 3, with 4 people is beyond me. They are the best for running around the back waters of VA Beach, I miss it erry'day.
I see a J16 can do 3, but that is some real skinny water.

Just to make sure I wasn't still drunk from last night, I checked the website to se what the manufacturer states.
The 16 foot J series draws 3"-6" of water with a 40HP motor.

At any rate, even if Brokeb16 is doing help for the fam, he should know at least the very basics of boating. Dad is letting himself down by not educating his son.

Three 115s, one 90 (24'), my fathers 27' extra wide is a 175.
Not quite sure what's going on above. I'm just here for a dock, clearly that's to much to ask.
