machine shop for VW head?

machine shop for VW head?
I have a VR6 head that i want to have the valve seats oversized to run 2+mm oversized valves.
Is there a local machine shop that has experience with VW head work?
I have heard that the 12V VR6 head is touchy when modifying, so i am hoping to get a machine shop locally that has experience in the work that needs to be performed.

Re: machine shop for VW head?
I would send it to Schimmel if I were you. From all the shops I have called nobody has the "special tool" to bore out a VR6 block. So I would make the assumption that nobody around here can do anything with the motor at all. If anybody can I would like to know also....

Re: machine shop for VW head?
I have heard really good things about schimmel, infact i worked with a guy that had his MK4 vrt built by them, but i really don't want to have to ship my head anywhere just on the weight of the package to be sent alone would be $$$.
i would need it to be pressure tested, the old valve seats removed and new ones installed and then cut, and i would also have them install the valve guides. aside from that all the install work i was planning on doing myself.
I'm familiar with abacus they used to rebuild our heads for work (toyota) but now we use gregorys for most of our stuff.
i will call Abacus racing tomorrow and see what they say.
Thanks for the input guys!
