Default Metal Supply"

I have not the first clue where to get metal in the 757. Preferably somewhere in Portsmouth/Chesapeake/Suffolk or maybe just over the MMBT. Looking for some 1x1 square tube, some sheet metal, ect.

Thanks

Is square tubing, squaring? A square tube doesn't make sense. . .

Honestly, I don't know exactly how much. Small quantities at a time though, I don't need a truck load.

I just finished a welder cart and I have other small projects in mind but, a 3ft section of 1/8 1x1 steel tube is $12 or so at Lowes/Home Depot. Which is much higher then a store that specializes in selling just raw metals. It's rather hard to find a section of thicker sheet metal. Trying to find a piece of sheet metal in 16 or 18 gauge that's bigger then 18in x 12in is hard anywhere other then a metal supply store. I had to use 2 sheets of the 18x12 to make the shelf on the cart since I couldn't find a 24in long sheet and didn't know of a local metals store.

What doesn't make sense? It's a tube that has 4 sides. They have round tube, oval tube, rectangle tube, triangle tube, hell even hexagonal tube.

Well when I did AC/Heat work, we did alot of metal fab.

We always got our stuff from R.E Michael's, but I don't think you can just walk in and buy stuff from them.

Go here, take cash, tell them what you need and ask to take a look at the cut off bin. Cash talks as they have a decent credit/ debit card minimum. The cut off bin contains left over pieces that other people paid to have cut. It's cheaper to buy whats in the bin as a whole piece vs having them cut it down to size or cut what you need from a full size piece of stock. I got a hell of a deal on a piece of 3/8" aluminum sheet when I built the tunnel plate on my vette.

For anyone who cares. I contacted BMG about 120ft of 1x1x.65 A513 square steel tube. They sell it in 20ft sections but, will cut once no charge. 120ft = 6 20ft sections @ about $17 per 20ft ($0.85/ft) Good deal considering the same type of metal in a 6ft section is around $12 ($2.00/ft) at Lowes/Home Depot. And they like cash.
