i called this number a lawyer i was talkin to gave me but it seems like it doesnt work. the number is suppose to take you to a office that suggest lawyers for you. just my luck it wouldnt work. its a machine that says "thatnx for calling the hampton roads attorney suggested office this is a working number but currently unavailable".... wtf is up with that

I'm pretty sure the car has to have insurance if it's registered, regardless of whether it has a plate on it or not.

You could try chasing the tag down in the DMV, show any docs you may have from the police and the MIGHT help you out, dont know for certain. If the guy is over 18, then he's not a minor and I doubt you can chase the parents for anything. The problem is even if you win in court, it's very difficult to get your money if the guy has no insurance. Good luck man, hope you dont get screwed.

Not quite sure if going to the court concerning this kids guilt of the charges is a good idea or not. On one hand, it could provide additional credible evidence that he hit and run, on the other hand, if you are a witness and he is still found not guilty -- then you just tossed out a civil suit in the process due to your involvement in a prior case (ie. double jeopardy). Not a lawyer, but, I would research it.

Might be worth going over and talking to his parents. Don't tell them your car was uninsured. See if they want to settle out of court, or if they want to waste both parties times and money by dragging it out in court.
