Real-time traffic alerts?
What's the best source in the area for real-time traffic alerts? Google maps' traffic service seems pretty straightforward; where do they get their data from?

Re: Real-time traffic alerts?
I know about the cameras, actually already had it bookmarked But that sort of website runs poorly on my my cellphone, and I can't really be checking a dozen cameras... there isn't anywhere that has just a quick rundown of the traffic alerts? Or an simple annotated map of accidents or anything?

Re: Real-time traffic alerts?
My carpool buddy has VZ Navigator on his phone, and I have google maps on mine. First stoplight, we're both sitting there, pulling up traffic on our cellphones, lol.. It sounds like google maps uses the same VDOT traffic highways speed information as VZ Navigator, which is about as good as we're going to get. So far, they've both been in complete agreement except for Friday, VZ Navigator said there was a 10 minute delay on 64 between indian river and greenbriar, google maps said green, and it ended up being the same rush-hour backup we get every day. VA Nagigator later changed it's mind. So, there may be a slight difference in polling speed or culling- if traffic brakes and accelerates back to 50+, it could easily fool the speed sensors. But it was certainly no 10 minute delay.
FYI, VDOT is supposed to be greatly expanding this coverage to more of hampton roads, which will be very nice.
Thanks, all!

Is there any cameras where we can see the VA Beach strip, like Atlantic Ave or even the beach? I want to see what it is like down there before driving from Hampton to go down.
