i got ticketed for having a stock exhaust on my srt. Hell cop said straight up "this whole car looks custom". LOLOLOL.

There are supposed to be criteria for roadside testing. That means a certain RPM, certain distance and certain angle from the exhaust. So like many other things, it comes down to officer training and whether they are actually using the equipment properly. I haven't actually read the vehicle code (or whatever pertains to this), but most states with dB testing specify the test conditions so I'm assuming VA will be the same. Whether that means changing the vehicle code wording, I don't know. The worst thing that can happen is if the wording isn't specific enough and the test conditions are open to individual interpretation.

If you don't think individual interpretation would be a problem, you should research sound level testing. You could make a stock Civic fail the dB limit if you knew how to skew the testing.
