Why do you say that? You must be thinking of the typical dual 2.25". I currently have 2.5 inch APR downpipes (two turbos) merging to single APR 3" cat-back exhaust. The techtonics system is the only dual system available that's 2.5", and it uses straight thru borla mufflers. The APR mufflers have baffles with a bunch of small holes drilled in them.
The reason I'm replacing the apr system is seeing people gain 45hp with exhaust dumps, while people with other systems don't gain near as much. That tells me the apr mufflers must be restrictive. Not to mention, the cross section area of single 3" pipe is 7 square inches, while dual 2.5" pipes have a total cross sectional area of 9.81 square inches.

an exhaust that i made for a guy a few years back on an S4 is why i said that, i really didnt like the way it looked with dual pipes. a 4" would have worked alot better, but i dont think the mufflers would have fit well. i'm pretty sure that exhaust is off the car now though, it was stainless pipe and madrel bends that were mig'd together to make it work. right now, last i heard that car is in the middle of some rediculous hp build, so its probly gone in favor of some other higher flowing exhaust.
although, it had one hell of a nice exhaust note.

I've been out to dyno inc and might go back for before/after exhaust pulls. The only problem is the pulls most likely wouldn't be made the same day. I would need to drive out there and dyno as-is, then drive home and wait for exhaust to cool off, swap new system in, then get back out there. If a guy gained 40-45whp with dumps open up front, I expect to see 20-30whp at the most.
I also just got on the list today for asp's new front mount IC, to replace my current RS4 side mount ICs.
