My buddy has an 03 cobra, I'm selling him some tires, but not sure what size we can go to. What are you guys running on the back with a stock 9" wheel. One of the wholesalers in town I deal with told me 315 but that seems awful wide for a 17x9.

315 is too wide for a 9', but people do it. And it looks stupid. But...its a '03 Cobra, so....you know.
If you run a Nitto Drag Radial you could do a 315 because they run small, but anything else I wouldn't go over a 285.

I have 285 GS-D3s on the back and they're fine on the stock 9in.
As already stated, you can use a 315 Nitto DR but the MTs and others won't fit
