Ok to answer the original post.

Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor package
Top speed- 143MPH
1/4-15.7sec

Chevy Impalla
Top speed-147MPH
1/4-15.3sec

Dodge Intrepid
Top speed-153MPH
1/4-15.4sec

Chevy Z28 Camaro Interceptor
Top speed- 172MPH
1/4-12.9sec

Typical police helocoptor or news helocopter
Top speed- 160MPH
1/4-N/A

Sesna prop plain
Top speed-215mph @ 25kft

These are from test sites and calling some of my dads old partners and instructors.

And as a note you cant outrun a radio, but you can outrun visual range.

I dont think the original poster was wondering if he could outrun the police, thats not that hard, it happens EVERYDAY. He was wondering how quick the police cars are. I have been looking at buying a old 2002 Crown Victoria Interceptor, just becuase I like the "muscle car" ideah. It would be a beast of a platform to start off with.

Now with the 250hp engine (variable F) and a vehicle weight of an SUV (variable M) A=not very fast

With your stock civic with about 120hp (variable f) and a much smaller vehicle weight than a police interceptor (variable M) a=still not very fast either, but it isn't hard to change that to outrun a cop car.

Two things to keep in mind a civic, unless the computer is modified, has a speed limitter of 120mph where as the police interceptor roughly 140mph.

the other thing in mind is that the radio waves emitted from their radios travel at 3.8x10^8 m/s 3,800,000km per SECOND or aproximately 8,500,357,909.806728mph. now unless you have either some serious LSX torque and 6 gears or a bike you aren't going to be able to outrun their radios
fixed

1.) All of those numbers are for stock vehciles, not vehicles laden with 1000lbs of police shit. So they're all a bit fast on the 1/4 mile speeds. Weight has no effect on top speed however.

2.) That top speed for the Camaro Z28 is incorrect. It wont hit 172mph stock, and it definitely will not hit that with the huge aerodynamic brick of a lightbar attached to it. Also, a stock auto LS1 F body does not run a 12.9. Period. Add 600-800lbs on top of the normal weight, and you make it even slower. Try more like low low 14's/high 13's.
