Well, of course any "blue/green/yellow/pink," HID's are illegal. Only dickhead cops will fuck with you for tint or having blue lights IMO. I've had 10k HID's, and 15% window tint, and I've never gotten pulled (knock on wood.) All BMW's, and I'm sure all the nicer cars (Lexus, Mercedes etc...) have the 5600k HID's I believe? They're the whiteish color ones, and I'm pretty sure you're fine with that.

technically any aftermarket mod to your car is ilegal. but there just a rare chance you'll get pulled for it.
as far as hids go. since so many cars come stock with them, theres only like a 2% chance you'll get pulled for them, Depending on which k you have, 10k in regular headlights without projectors, are pretty damn bright. if you get the wrong cop he'll pull you for them. but if you have anything lower then that (becides yellow 3k.) you'll be fine. as long as you dont piss any cops off enough where they go around your car and write you a ticket for anything they can. I.E a loose license plate screw. but charges like that will most likely get thrown out in court. or reduced to defective equipment. Im a seller of hid kits. so i know the ones you cna get buy with and the ones you cant. so far ive only had one buddy of mine get pulled. But thats because he had 30k which are a bright deep blue. So if you just stick with 5,6,8 or 12k you'll be fine.
