For Microfiber:

For buffing pads, I soak them overnight so the polish breaks down and then just rinse them out. Pads shouldn't have anything but polish on them. If they're dirty at all, toss 'em.

I have an "order of use hierarchy" for rags too. Exterior paint, wash 'em, interior use, wash 'em, wheels, wash 'em, engine/wheel well/undercarriage, toss 'em.

I've used the wash before with success on certain cloths.

Take some Dawn, go to laundry mat late at night. Dump a load of detergent in, grab the rags before to many bubbles come out of the machine, go home and air dry. Dry by later on to see how many bubbles/foam are on the ground.

Brian, I may have some Griots Microfiber cleaner left, I'm not sure, I'll check tonight. You use it instead of detergent.

I usually soak my rags in soft soap. Its the same stuff I use to wash my car and is a very mild soap, therefore prohibiting any wear on the paint. I just let the rags soak over night with a bucket full of water and about a half a cup of soft soap. Then I take them out of the bucket and sort of rub the together to be sure most of the oil and any other soils is out. Then I heavily rinse them in hot water and let them air dry.
