Missed that price range, but for the money I would go c5z then... power, handling, looks, comfort. Or a 03 cobra, but definently no where near as comfortable plus theres some issues, youll also end up blowing 10k in mods at it real quick.

I drove a c6 with some sort of package (RAM AIR BRAKES ) and a 04 sc cobra as well as a used and new gt 500. I like the feeling of the power better in the vette, also i think the engine noise, road noise and overall ride is nicer in the vette. I say TT vette only becouse I dont want to rule it out. We had a 2010 (i think it was a 2010 maybe a 2009) ZR1 at our chevy store when i was driving the used cobra (2009 GT 500 stock) . I knew the guy so we did a SMALL pull on 29 north when it was dead and that thing FLEW. I was on stock boost, stock everyhting and he was all stock but i was SEVERLY impressed. That price tag gets me though. I dont want to dump LOTS of money into a bad investment. But something I can buy drive a year or two maybe longer and not lose alot in the long run. make sense?

Something to think about, 03/04 cobra anywere from about 16-21k for a decent one, Same year gt around 10k, It will cost atleast another 8k to build the motor and decent trans. The cobra all ready comes with both of those. If your going to spend that kinda of money it would be cheaper just to buy the cobra to begin with, and the gt is still going to be a 2v. I would say a Cobra or a c6 would be the best choice![Drink](https://www.vadriven.com/forums/images/smilies/beer.gif)

Second... if you want to drive something fun for "a year or two maybe longer and not lose..." then you should buy a mint car in stock condition and leave it alone.
Buy a pristine 2003 or 2004 C5 Z06, put some mufflers and an air intake on it and enjoy the car. When you get tired of it, but it back to stock and sell it and sell the mods on the forums.
You do a "TT" on that same car be prepared to spend $10k and have a car worth maybe $2k more than the mint stock one if anything at all.

That was motor and trans, And that was also including porting the heads and everything that goes along with doing a built motor witch is about 5k, a t56 and a good clutch is 3k.
