why dont you use a high temperature resistant paint? I mean since its ceramic it shouldnt be too hard, and that way it will last longer and your mind can be at rest for fear of burning it.

Paint something metal first to check the paint match... if it matches then go for it.
Get some latex gloves to keep skin oils off the parts. Wash them w/ soad/water, then sand w/ 300 grit, then clean w/ carb cleaner or de-greaser and wipe down, then paint. Buy some etching primer (helps w/ painting metal)... it sprays out green, then paint blue.
