drilled and or slotted rotors are proven to actually provide less breaking.
but you are 100% true. buy better tires before upgrading brakes
i always thought that rotors that are drilled and slotted AFTER the cut/poured/molded arent worth it, but the ones that are made will the dimples, slots and all the jazz are worth it. i know the holes help dissapate heat, and the slots help take the glaze off the pad, thus making you be able to brake longer and harder with out brake fade, but not actually make you stop faster. if that makes any sense

glass head lights, and this is mostly on track cars, so rocks and stuff doesnt get put through the head light.
