jumpin the gun a little
he needs to put the motor back together first
premixing is really the best cheapest option anyways

Yea but then you still inject dirty oil and attempt to burn it. if you premix, do the omp blockoff.

Premixing means you take 2stroke oil and put it in the gas tank. You have an OMP which is the oil metering pump which pumps engine oil to lubricate the apex seals. 2 stroke oil mixed with your gas will also help lubricate your apex seals. usually when you run 2 stroke oil, you can take out the OMP, but keeping it there will give you security.

You should really change your oil every 3000miles anyways, no point in changing the oil so often. Usually your oil filter will catch it. I've never heard of dirty oil causing the engine to pop on a rotary.

I run Castrol GTX 10w-40, premixing with a 1oz to 1 gallon ratio, and I still run my stock OMP.

This is stuff you need to study OP.

On the older motors the fuel has part of the job of spreading the oil around the combustion chamber, regardless of which route you choose.

So it's either inject oil + any impurities that's typically not made to burn into temperatures that will cause it to OR premix+blockoff+run High quality group III faux-synthetic oil in the sump OR OMP Adapter to inject 2stroke+run group III oil in the sump.

The main thing keeping from running synthetic was seal incompatibility:
http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.ph...chmentid=24688

So if you rebuild with seals that are synthetic-friendly you can inject the 2-stroke oil that will reach the corners and apex seals, burn clean, and not leave deposits. Then you can run a proper weight (synthetic of you like, definitely a plus) in the sump.

The only real downside to premix is it decreases the fuel's effective octane rating.

I hate this mentality. I'm on #3, and each project has gotten bigger than the last.

I would love to put that engine in my small air plane I haven't built yet.
