yeah ls1s are no where near what a lt1 is. The motor mounts on a ls1 sit 3 inches farther forward than the LT1/sbc position. Also the LS1 oil pan often times gets in the way when your trying to swap it into older cars not set up for it. Most people just cut the oil pan to clear and tig a patch panel on it. Thats the main reasons that a LT1 swap is easier and obviously the LT1 is going to be cheaper.
