Taking a lawyer to court with you for a traffic ticket will get the judge hotter than shit. Trust me... I was a bad boy in regards to minor traffic violations when I was a young stud. I witnessed many a people bring a lawyer to court to fight a speeding ticket. Alll it got was them having the book thrown at them.
If you want a light sentence...
1. Go to court solo.
2. Ask for defensive driving class.
3. Apologize. Apologize and then apologize once more.
4. Don't look like a smug prick.
5. DRESS LIKE YOU RESPECT THE JUDGE (no suit, nice shirt, tie and slacks and nice shoes).
I have had much experience in this realm. I still have my license (and a better head on my shoulders).
