Exactly what I was gonna say. I picked up this old Peugeot for $20 awhile back, it needed a bottom bracket. Since it was French threaded, a replacement from Phil Wood or whoever would have cost many times what the frame was worth.

I think I have all of the parts to put it together...I just need someone with know how to help me figure it out.
Also one of the wheels is marginally bent so that needs to be fixed (spokes)

Really I just wouldn't waste my time/money on a old, very heavy, department store, french frame.

Definitely not for under $50. Unless you can find a bike with the parts you need that's still in good condition for under $50.
