in the wonderfull state of va, anything you do to your bike that didn't come that way from the factory, is illegal. just because it'll pass inspection doesn't mean it's not illegal.

technically in va anything you do that isn't factory to anything is illegal but most cops and inspectors aren't that bad unless it is unsafe . . .

haha, you know, im all about not running from the police.. but with my plate mounted the way it is right now, and if i bike cop asked me to pull over, id have to laugh it off and keep rolling down the street and pretend i didnt see him. theres just something about a cop on a bike that makes me want to laugh...

actually, im a pussy and would probably pull over, but its the point..

I'm going to confirm with the VA State Police to see whether or not it's truly illegal to have an open faceshield. I think it should be common sense. If I'm riding at a slow speed where I don't feel like I'm at too much danger of being hit in the eye or exposed face by a bug or debris, I sometimes ride with my shield open. Would never ride with it open more than a crack at any sort of speed above maybe 45 or so.. I've been hit in the eye/face with just about everything you can think of (shut up! I know what you're thinking)... cigarette butts, rocks, bugs, etc. I've even been shit on by a bird, but luckily it shit on my faceshield RIGHT AFTER I CLOSED IT! lol

lol, i hit a bat at 100+ mph. didn't even see it coming. that HURT!

as far as the law on face shields, you have to have them closed any time the bike is in motion. it's rediculous, i know, welcome to va.
