Re: Cycle whore thread
a fine example...
2008 Ducati 1098 R Superbike
I have 2 that need to find good homes Both started life as brand new machines this year. Both are built exactly the same. These bikes were built to full AMA Superbike spec, and have everything a WSBK Superbike has except for a TC system and gas charged forks. Colorado MRA Supertwins championship winning bike, and second in RoR GTO, they have class records and race wins to back them up. They dyno over 100 lb/ft of torque and over 190 rear wheel horsepower. Engines were built and maintained at Boulder Motorsports. All chassis setup done between the NorCO race team and Boulder Motorsports.
DP=Ducati Performance products or accs
RS=Ducati World Superbike hard parts
CHASSIS:
1098RS adjustable steering stem
Attack triple clamps (fully adjustable)
Ohlins fork internals, multiple springs
Ohlins TTX shock, multiple springs
Ohlins steering damper
Oversize carbon/kevlar fuel tank
Spiegler brake/clutch lines
Brembo RCS brake master
DP Kit swingarm
1098RS flat link
DP rear sets with 1098RS pegs and brake lever
DP bodywork
DP race windshield
DP clutch cover
DP quick throttle
Woodcraft clip-ons
Renthal soft grips
ENGINE:
1098 RS Kit radiator and oil cooler
Nemesis programmer and quick shifter (GP style)
Lightweight race harness and battery
Modified DP slipper clutch (1098RS settings) with 1098RS sintered plates
Kit tranny
1098RS pistons
1098RS cams
Head ported and flowed
Crank lightened
Termignoni full exhaust system
All of this adds up to over $80,000 (cost of a 1098 R alone is $40k). All the hard work is done and the bike is race ready. All stock parts come with sale too (every single street part). All parts were taken off and placed in boxes, and they will go to the buyer. Our price is $40,000.
Serious buyers only please, contact Brad Hendry at 720-341-2618. For email and pictures of this bike in action, please visit BradHendry.com

Re: Cycle whore thread
hey, its a LOT cheaper to make your own WSBK.
the limiting factor is electronics. the hardware isnt all un-obtanium shit....
however, a GP bike you still have to "know" the right people to even buy one. You dont just call up Ducati, or Suzuki and order one because youre Mr. deep pockets.

Re: Cycle whore thread
You need a good package to win, but the rider can take a good package and make it great. Spies was able to do that, which was fantastic, while Sykes had a very poor year. Crutchlow's already fighting for top of the charts on the R1 after one day on it. Next year's gonna be great in WSBK, hopefully MotoGP races get a little more interesting, too.
It sounds like Wayne did ride it from the article...also Michael Laverty's twitter mentioned they were waiting for Wayne to show up to ride his, but he didn't show.
it is the package.
we saw how in 07 that rossi didnt have the package and didnt win.
also, did Wayne Gardner ride it?
no worries tho, this week all the magazine editor will ride the factory machines like they do every year after the testing... they will tell you whats difficult and whats not.
