Re: Honda Ruckus / Scooter Thread
Non Natives are only allowed a work permit good for 4 year. . .4 years total. Even if it is a year here, a year there, 4 years is the max residency for non natives. It has some pluses and minuses, like any Island, but Bermuda is nice.

I understand the work permit thing, being a island you have to control your population some how. Now are they like here, where if you marry someone you automatically gain your citizenship? And assuming that you had a kid there, are they considered a citizen?

I tell you man, your vast assortment of knowledge on every topic baffles me some times.

Marriage can get you residency. Micheal Douglas is from Bermuda, own some really nice property in Flats Village, Katherine Zeta I think got her papers because of that too.
And it isn't so much a population control thing. . .well, I guess it is in a way, but it's because BMU is SO Small, property is most often family land passed on and on, and they(Bermudians)really like to keep it a charming little island, free of the resort feel like in the Bahamas. Also, they are not hurting for money, being a tax haven, there are a major hub for some really big business, so they aren't all that interested in selling shit to keep ends met in a sense. Keep the country, country kinda thing if that makes sense.
Tuckers town though, Ross Perot has a pretty sweet house there, but that was bought before the current laws.
edit. Oh, and for kids, if one of the parents is Bermudian, than the parents can choose . . .I know for the USA, the parents can opt for the child to be a US Citizen born abroad, as for the rest, I really haven't a clue. For me, I chose when I was 18 for duel citizenship with UK, and USA.

Re: Honda Ruckus / Scooter Thread
I have been the the Bahamas too and can definitely tell the difference the minute I arrived in Bermuda. The Bahamas was ,like you said, built around the tourists and thrived off of them. Where as Bermuda was a completely different, thriving businesses everywhere, people going about there day not trying to sell me a knock off purse or a bottle of water every chance they got. Me and a friend bought a public transport pass while in Bermuda, and walked through some really nice neighborhoods while we were there.
Oh on a side note, while in Bermuda, friends parents were on a bus that hit and killed a scooterist that tried to play chicken with it.

Agreed. Because once you give the assholes a little room, they will just pass you in your own lane damn near forcing you to ride the curb. The hell with everyone else, that lane is mine.

I read somewhere the US was going to get rid of dual citizenship as well.
