It's LEGAL in the state of Virginia to 'open carry' a weapon, so long as the weapon isn't concealed (hence 'open carry') you have the right to carry a weapon. You are however prohibited from open carrying in certain places such as schools, workplace, etc. I was just talking to my co-workers about this and they weren't aware of it, they thought it was illegal to open carry a weapon without a permit, ask your 'educated' local police officer if you like to confirm or just google 'va open carry laws'. Even some cops don't know this, and it's people like some on here that aren't aware neither that would probably get the cops called on someone who's open carrying.
