I used to wave at harley riders and never got a response so i stopped. I will wave only if they wave first.

up here almost everyone waves/waves back. more so if your in wva. theyll run after you to kill you with kindness. even if your in a car up there you have to wave at everyone otherwise they take it offensivly

I never had somebody not wave back.. until I read this post and commented. and yesterday (saturday) on my bike. Almost NOBODY waved back. I was like WTF... most of them were on the interstate on the other side of the barrier. but I usually get a wave back even then.

I dont ever wave at scooters. They dont pay to ride on the road, so they dont deserve a wave from me. Other than that, if you are riding a bike, i wave even if you dont acknowledge it. My father waves while hes on his bike to other riders, and if you dont wave back, he will shoot you an extra wave-haha.
