Some dude in Maryland I bought it from. I can't seem to get it to hold the timing advance. it pulls that shit back to stock every time. I'm going to replace the knock sensor and see if that's the issue. If that doesn't help it's going under the knife. I'm not steady anywhere on my Afrs. I do know it's pinging but I can't seem to lock down why. So I'm going with a shit tune at this point.

Overly simplifying the situation.

Unknown tuning, unknown wiring and hardware problems, means it's easier for someone that can just do their workflow to figure out all the issues than it is for him to trudge through it.

A talented tuner/diagnostician is worth the price. Good shops might charge $100/hr for labor rates but only a few are really worth it, and you usually get your car back sooner and don't have to correct something they missed down the road.

Negative, on all accounts. Those cars are very easy and cheap to diagnose/tune with a ton of community support. If you're dumb or lazy though, I suppose going through the hassle of making arrangements with a 3rd party to do it for you might be easier.
