Upcoming extended downtime (server move)!
Dear VaDriven.com,
As you must obviously know, the website has been experiencing frequent and extended periods of time when the forums have been inaccessible. Many of you have been frustrated with the performance lately - and rightly so. I apologize for any inconvenience this might of caused and any delays in bringing the site up as I've been out of town the majority of the last three weeks.
So, tonight I'm pleased to announce that the website will be moved over to a brand new upgraded server in the next couple days. The new hardware is a significant improvement from the current setup, featuring Dual Opteron processors and 4GB of RAM. This new server will be more than enough to handle the substantial growth this community has seen over the past couple of years and the continual growth that will be seen in the years to come.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the continual support of our Patrons and Advertising Sponsors. You have my genuine appreciation for helping keeping this website going. All the users owe you all a debt of gratitude.
If you are interested in becoming apart of the supporting cast, Patron memberships can be purchased here (https://www.vadriven.com/forums/payments.php) and interested advertisers can e-mail me here (https://www.vadriven.com/forums/sendmessage.php). I am also soliciting paypal donations to sungek (at) gmail.com. If you enjoy the site and its services, please take a moment to take a good look at your own financial situation and decide whether you can make a contribution, no matter how big or small. With the new hardware comes new costs, please consider helping to share the burden.
.
I can't say when exactly and for how long the downtime will be, but expect several hours of inaccessibility to come in the next day or so. I would recommend getting any phone numbers and information you need out of your PM boxes as well as a database move is never a sure thing. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be sent using the Contact Us link on the navbar.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
