Default 1986 VW Golf GTI

* Name: Pierce Ford
* Location: Richmond/Charlottesville
* Means of Contact: PM me here, or call/text me: 804 two one eight 5117. I don't answer numbers I don't know so leave me a message.

* Description: 1986 VW Golf GTI. This is a ONE owner car as far as the title goes. My father bought this car BRAND new in late 86. He gave it to me last year when he bought his BMW. I've driven it a few times since then, mainly back and forth from Richmond to Charlottesville when my Daily Driver Civic crapped out on me, but I never titled it. This was a MAINE bought car, but it has incredibly little to no rust on it at all. But it definitely has it's fair share of problems.

The odometer stopped working sometime around 76k miles I believe. My father estimated about 155k miles or so when he gave it to me, so it probably has around 160-162k miles on it now. The secondary fuel pump (I think, it's the one near the rear axle, outside the gas tank) leaks a little bit until it warms up. It has a terrible bog in the lower RPM range, I've been told that can be fixed by cleaning the fuel door flapper thingy. the drivers window fell down on me last time I was driving it, about a month ago, and I haven't fixed it yet (manual crank windows). It has a lifter tick that doesn't really go away. And apparently the tail-lights don't always like to work. Oh and it also likes to cut off on you at a stop until it gets warmed up. And the ceiling has the general MK2 crapiness going on.

But there are some good things about this car too: like the fact that it is ALL original, save for the wheels, exhaust and the front end. It has a grille and headlight setup that I brought back from a vacation in Turkey, so it's setup for the proper LHD roads that we have here, and everything is wired to work, the center fogs are on a switch in the dash, and the daytime running lights are on anytime the key is on. The exhaust is just some welded up muffler shop special, and it's rusting through a little bit. Sounds good though. The wheels are some BS Konigs or something that my dad picked up on CL cause he liked 'em. It WAS sitting on MK1 GTI snowflakes before that, that looked SOOOO much better...

I'm really not sure that I want to sell this vehicle, but I'm really hurting for cash right now, and I'm trying to move so I need to hem down the herd. I haven't seen any of these vehicles on here for a while, so I have no idea if my asking price is ok or not, but leave me some feedback. Thanks!

* Price: $2000 OBO.

PLEASE make me an offer. I need money pretty badly. If you think my asking price is outlandish, let me know!
