hey guys, i got court on the 27th (4 day weekend ruiened) for a speeding ticket that i got a few months ago. I was allegidly going 54 on a 30 zone (rt 123... vienna's gay) so i guess thats wreckless.

the thing is i dont know how this court stuff works.. judge will ask me wheather i'm guilty or not... what should i say? Honestly, i dont know if i was speeding or not. When I first saw cop lights behind me, my first impression was change lanes cuz i didn't think he was pulling me over but then i realized it could have been for my exhaust or no front license plates or no front signal lights or no county sticker. I soon find out i was speeding.

So thats my story right there... Should i just plead guilty just to make things easier? I think thats what i'm gonna do. People have been telling me to ask for a plea bargain meaning i get off on this one but if i get a ticket within certain amount of time, i get slammed by both tickets at same time... So how do ask the judge for one? Will he/she give me a chance to ask or will i have to interupt?

any input is greatly appreciated.

Actually I have been to court many of times.....sounds bad right. BUt anyways. the judge will ask you what you plead. and you will say guilty, or not. Now if you have anything you can prove that you were not speeding, then plead not guilty, but if you dont you might as well plead guilty. it is going to suck. And yes the judge will give you a chance to speak. If the cop is there, he/she will give there side of the story, and then it will be your turn, and then the judge will give you the verdict. But if the cop doesnt show up, the case may be thrown out, also ask the judge about driver inprovment course..........i hope this helped a little

how is the cop gonna remember? this was like.... 3 months ago? this guy pulls shit loads of people over a week. and they normally show up tho right?

o and before the cop let me go, he told me if this was my first ticket (which it is) its likley i will just have to take a drivers class.

so do u think i should just let the judge dicide to give me the class or should i ask for it? IMO i think asking for it makes it sound like i'm trying to get out the easy way. what yall think?

 

I would plead guilty. Tell the judge exactly what happend, you were listening to the radio, had a hard day, etc and didn't pay attention to the speedometer.
If it's your first ticket, it should get off on driver's ed, the judge should suggest it when he renders his verdict.
If the cop dosen't show, just say you weren't speeding, i got lucky on that one out in richmond! But out of 10 tickets i have had in fairfax county, the cop has showed up to all of them.

 

For some reason they remember....... I went to court like 3 months ago, and I was stoked cause when i got there the cop wasn't, but right when they called me howdy @#$%in doody came walkin in.....

yeah i've been to court many times. dress in a button up shirt tie and slacks dress shoes basically make sure u look good. when you go up there do not and i repeat do not have your hands in your pockets and when you reach the stand place your hands on there. lest you cna prove it your guilty so just say guilty unless he wrote wreckless on the ticket its not one. ummmmm i think that s it yeah been to the court house my fair share of times
