I'm in PA right now for school, but if I end up getting home for the weekend (hopefully no shitty weather) I should be heading to Blue Ridge with my pops and bro as well. Honestly I couldn't tell you what pops has...I think he's got a Magnum and a .45. Some kind of shotty as well. He keeps them locked in the safe and never takes them out. Me and bro shooting the AK this weekend peaked his interest though, and he's down to shoot.

I am definetly reconsidering getting the glock 23, possibly compensated, due to overall size and firepower... might just have to make that sacrifice of a lil power for a lil size... we'll see. got any thoughts on that?
The Glock 30 is a compact .45 .

subcompact... and very uncomfortable to shoot imo. my hands are far from small and obviously/hopefully, 100% of the shooting i will be doing is at the range, so it might as well fit

http://www.glock.com/english/index_pistols.htm

after doing some more research, i think im gonna be going with the glock 21sf. with a proper holster it shouldnt be a big deal to carry concealed

Good choice. I carry a G21 concealed and you could never tell. Just buy your shirts 1 size larger and get a GOOD belt. I have fairly large hands so I know what you mean about the smaller guns.
