how did you all start?
so... how did you all start your engine building wonders?
and... whats the best way to acquire engines on the cheap? like d16's for like $300 (if that's possible?) I want to buy one, and spend the money on parts, sprucing it up with valve springs, retainers, forged rods, valves.... but i also want some to just plain beat on...
im also curious... if anyone knows... what engines came in the 89-91 crx si's... d16 non-vtec?

Re: how did you all start?
How I started.. I bought a piece of shit 93 Civic EX coupe to drive in highschool and it had a lot of problems, so I bought a Helms manual and got my hands dirty. Some friends of mine were starting to get into modding their cars, and it seemed like I was spending most of my part time job cash on OEM parts just to keep my junkbox running. Eventually got enough stuff together (with minimal research, I wish I had just saved my money now) to boost it via junkyard turbo setup. I ended up selling the car not too long after that.
My current engine build is the result of a blown headgasket on a b swap, and when I tore it down I realized how true the statement "buyer beware" is with used, modded cars because the headgasket was minor compared to some things I found. It sucks because it happened, but I'm now seeing it as a blessing in disguise as I'm learning a lot more about engines and assembly and will be able to say I put this one together, and actually did it right.
CRX Si's came with the D16A6, I think.
