dude you werent under arrest, you were being detained.. and until your read your rights your not under arrest.... yes its legal, they are allowed to hold you til they figure out what is goin on, as far as them goin in your back pack if they can prove they had probable cause its ok too, they only do it to keep themselves, the victum and you safe, really i woudlnt care too much because they are doin theyre jobs, even tho sometimes it makes it inconvenient for some and in yourt case you, but it could be worse
