No. do not get it fixed. let the state trooper see it himself before you do anything. now he will pull the sticker off and put a rejection on it. but you know you will get it fixed anyways. this way he really gets the inspector first hand.

I wouldn't have left, before calling the police.
"My technicians want to go home."
That's nice, tell your 'technicians' not to brake customer vehicles and not be suspect mother f****** and you won't have that problem.
But either way, I think you're in a good spot .. and it will end in your favor.
GL anyways!

Unfortunatley I had my mother with me, and she needed to go to work, so I had no other choice than leave.
Pleasantly surprised.

Something that should take 1 hour ends up being a multi-day ordeal .. resulting in a bunch of tie wasted when a much easier solution was always available.
Compounded by the moms being there.

Here is what I have running through my head and I want you all's honest opinion as to what I should do next.
1. Take a Dump.
2. Call/Write the VA State Police and report that a State Inspector made a car unsafe, gave it a passing sticker and knowingly allowed a vehicle with an unsecured hood out on public roads.
3. Get the car fixed, and give the shop manager the bill.
4. Drop it and move on.

On Monday I wanted to head back to that shop and rip them a new asshole with the police on my side..
However, my mother took it upon herself to go to the shop without me and try to talk to these yokels about what they can do to rectify the situation.
They then proceeded to:
- Be rude as can be
- Assume my mom knows nothing about cars
- Offered to only charge her for the part and not the labor
- Insulted her by scoffing at her profession.
- Assumed that just because of her accent.. that she is a FOB
- Ordered her to leave the property
By the time I got to her house.. SHE was so pissed that she was pacing around her own house..and she is normally the most patient person I've ever had to encounter.
Luckily my sister was with her when she went and witnessed all the the above happenings.. so before we called the VSP.. we decided to call the Sunoco Corporate headquarters. We got the customer service director on the phone and explained that we in good faith, took our car in to be inspected by their "Friendly, Courteous and Technically Competent work staff" and ended up Insulted, offended and intentionally left with a unsafe vehicle (now with an illegally obtained valid safety inspection sticker). We also told them, that we don't want it to have to reach the level of the VSP because we know that if the VSP gets involved... its not going to be pleasant for either party.
So they caved.
They are sending a claims rep out to inspect the car, and by what I hear... we're going to be able to get the car fixed at the dealership... on them.
Still not really satisfied.. because I want that shop to be fucking shut down to the fullest extend and I want the owner of that shop to be dipped in honey and dropped on an anthill... but hey.. i guess this is as good as its going to get.
I'll update again once the sunoco claims person comes and goes...
