I have seen accidents where the person with the plastic cheap bumper gets a few knicks on his paint and the other car gets major damage. But I guess you answered the question 
What do you mean by "Sold"? Not valid anymore? The best thing to do is keep on it and don't let the police just give up. I was stupid and took "We'll give you a call in a few days whether we catch the person or not" for an answer... they never called me back and the person was never caught.

my girl e-mail dmv to see what they say and I have a cop that comes to my work every night I missed him tonight but I will talk to him tommrow. I took a closer at it today and the bumper support is pushed into the trunk which means I need more work than I thought....
