my mothers an insurance adjuster and she tells me all the time that say if i was the escalade and my light turns green that doesnt give me the right to go. i do this all the time see green and go if i were to hit someone like a person in your situation i'd be screwed. His green light tells him to look then proceed when its clear. It should be his fault but if your 1% at fault in Va your insurance handles your car his handles his. good old Virginia.

Unless the escalade was coming up on the intersection when it was still red, and he knew it would be green, so he didnt slow down drastically because it was going to turn green. Plenty of accidents because of this one.

Its a tough call. I'd time the lights and see how long the delay is after your red, and their green. then estimate about where you were when it turned red, and see where he was when his light was supposedly green. confusing, yes i know. but thats my 2 cents.
