It will probably work well for what you're trying to get out of it. If you were looking for competition prep, I'd say eastern. For strictly bjj, Gustavo is the man.

Friend who has been training there for a few years said everything is full contact except beginner Muay Thai

Eastern is good for muay thai as well though, i know multiple people that go there and they all tell me that hybrid is just a big joke. The trainers at eastern even say that hybrid is a joke
