i would love to get a gig back home. i figure 2014, i'll have a total 11 years of active duty, combat arms army service, obviously operating around extremely heavy machinery(tanks and other things that blow up stuff), i've done and seen some things that i have yet to see in the states that would even phase me, and honestly, i just desperately need a job field that i feel i will still be accomplishing something. and get that fuckin rush. i'm working my way through a Fire And Emergency Management degree which i must somehow finish in two years, which i hope would also boost me up.

fire just sounds like more fun than being a police officer.
you could always do navy regional.

really good pay and benefits but you, like me, would go insane there. they dont run shit, mostly commercial fire alarms
and a bunch of bullshit.

you shouldnt have any problem getting that job though, really easy for military personel to transition to a civilian
fire dept job this way.

its weird, everytime i go onto the sites, it seems impossible.

so if you work for one city, do you have to live there, or can you live somewhere else?

I didnt say it was easy or fast.

I have been in chesapeakes process for 4 years.

You just gotta apply and start testing, take as many city's tests as possible.

Most cities don't require you to live in there district.

on a side note, can we just change this to Official VaDriven Firefighter's Thread
