another wtf thread...
listen to this......
went to take the bubble for a spin...break it in and break in the clutch...im cruising doin like 80....after about 15 mins of driving...i smell smoke...like oil is burning...so im like wtf...this shit has new seals and gaskets everywhere...as im pulling off the exit the shit cuts off...when i pop the hood i look the the timing belt...its still nice and tight...then i look at the cams...they all fucked up...
then i break the head down (cam caps n cams) and notice the intake cam rail by the camgear is brown and dry...like its been burned...now im like wtf...the cams were grinding into the head...here r the pix...wtf ....i cant win...
YES!!! i used plenty of assembly lube...and YES!!! i torqued everything down right....

Was the cam caps and rails placed on right? Not calling u stupid or anything just generally asking. They got arrows and numbers to let you know where and which way they face. Any info on motor setup? Did it only tear up the journals closest to the cam gears?

I don't buy that at all. Making the belt too tight doesn't affect the bearing clearances (so there should have been oil in the journals), and the forces on the cams when the engine changes speed are much higher than an overtightened belt. I think you have an oiling problem caused by something else.

I snatched the head off and brought it to work with me today....im gonna tear it apart n a few hours when these crack babies and welfare recips go to bed
