Who gets good cellphone coverage in this area?
Right now i'm with sprint and my contract with them ends next month. My cellphone just got busted so i'm thinking rather than buy a new phone with sprint, I should wait until I switch to another carrier. I have a friend who works for Verizon and it seems like a better deal. I did a search on this subject in this forum and found a thread from 2003. Does anyone have good coverage with Verizon, particularly in the downtown area?

I got cingular and it sucks around richmond/midlo/powhatan. I suggest verizon, its the best hands down, never drop calls, never not be able to make a call, get service EVERYWHERE.

That has a lot to do with it, but it seems like I can get better coverage with a cheaper phone with Verizon. The biggest thing for me is that most of my calls are to other Verizon phones so I can get away with a plan with fewer minutes.

Verizon FTW! They you pay little more but its so worth it. They have hooked me up so many times with repairs and replacements its not even funny. Ive always gone to the store on Midlo Turnpike next to the Lonestar always nice people willing to help out. I have since got a new phone that doesnt break as much but when ive had problems they always get it fixed fast.

Verizon is good unless you live around pocahantas state park, then you won't get reception at all. Alltel has the best deal going with the unlimited calls to any 10 numbers you choose and anytime plan changes, plus they seem to get excellent reception everywhere around the area. Everyone has verizon though, so it does make it cheaper to talk that way.
