Lol @ Mindless.
What you could do (and what most people do that lower their cars the "cheap" way) is get some Ebay springs and put them on your stock struts. But don't complain when you're buying new tires every few months because your camber is so damn negative.
Do yourself a favor and save up some money for an actual coilover setup. It'll give you that dropped, stiff ride you're looking for but, without the bounciness. Make sure you get a camber kit as well.

It's doable. And you MIGHT like it. Depends on if you like bouncing over EVERY bump or not. It's good if girls are riding shotgun. :P
Just imagine because your struts will be bottomed out. So when you hit a bump your struts can't be pressed in any further so it'll only shoot out. I had an EK coupe that I ran the lowing springs on stock struts setup for a while. My friends would come push on my trunk and make my car LITERALLY bounce the tires off the ground because the recoil was so strong.
Needless to say, I learned my lesson. Now, I'm running Blox everything.

You'll only get a bouncy ride if you have stiff springs and not enough damping. Other than that you'll just have a firm ride with lowering springs. The see-saw that you often see cars do when they're lowered is from not enough damping and front/rear springs that are too close to the same spring rate.
You should get a camber kit though, because of the obvious tire wear problems.
But no, there is no reason that you can't use OEM fitment lowering springs on OEM fitment shocks. I'd rather have a decent set of aftermarket dampers and a good set of lowering springs than a crap set of "me-too" coilovers.
