99 civic si knocking noise (video included)
Hey whatsup guys. I'm trying to help my little brother but I dont know what it could be and I'm at college right now. So I'm asking you guys if you could help out. Okay my brother gave me a shitty explanation in the last thread i made, so i'm trying this again. . I don't want to jump to the conclusion of a rod bearing but that's what i'm leaning towards. I'll have a couple of hours to look at it this weekend for him and i'm going to show him this thread also. He said he was just drivinig it normal in 5th going 45, and it started knocking. He said he then pulled over, cut it, and tried again and the knock was still there, but the car would stall everytime. Any help would be appreciated

.. also listen for the knocking, its really shitty video quality, so its hard to hear but on my phone i can hear it perfectly

If it was a valve issue he can pull the cover, check valve clearance, look for anything broken an it's more of a high pitched noise. Rod knocks are easy to detect. Sounds like a midget inside the cylinder wall beating it with a hammer. Easy to see also, just pull the oil pan an caps to inspect whats going on.

I told him to already look out for some b series shortblocks. But the video obscures the sound a little bit. It is a low noise and you kind of have to listen closely. I also read somewhere that a possible noise could be a loose spark plug but I didn't think that would cause it to stall, more just run shitty
